Successful Softmodded 9500NP

It was time to upgrade from my Gforce 3 card. After doing a great deal of research I decided to try my luck with a 9500np built on a 9700pro pcb. So last week I ordered a Sapphire 9500NP OEM from Newegg. After the usual prep( lapping HS, AS3) I cranked up the computer and ran default benchmarks ...

Sapphire cards are very good. They also make the built by ATI cards. The 9700pro is a great choice. A 9500NP modded into a 9700pro gives your great performance but, and this is a big BUT, only 50% of the cards successfully softmod.

The only difference between the 9800 pro and NP is the clock speed and the memory used. The pro uses 2.8ns Samsung and the NP uses either 3.0 or 3.3 depending on the card manufacturer. The 9800np is the best card to get for under $300.

As the temp difference between the sides go up the heat exchange rate goes down. In general a ...

Your temps look very good. The new Barton cores seem to OC pretty well. With more juice you should be able to run 2.3 Ghz without a problem.
For stability I suggest you run Prime95 in the backround and loop 3dmarks for a few hours. The best test is to play your favorite games. No crash=stable.
