Brief blubs on nVidia's upcoming NV35

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

At least we're starting to hear about it...

*******************************************
NVNews has posted some specs and performance figures on NVIDIA's upcoming NV35 graphics card.

NV35:
256 Bit Memory Bus
500MHz DDR I (Effective 1000MHz)
500MHz GPU
Low noise cooling solution (Different from NV30)

Here is the translation:

While running a quick benchmark in Quake3, 1600x1200, 4XAA and 8xAF it got 111 FPS, compared to a GeForce FX Ti5800 Ultra that got 48 FPS. However both chips were clocked at 250MHz because it was still a prototype, and they wanted to make an exact comparision to the NV30. So basically both were set to 250 in order to make a fair benchmark.

We also have insight on the information from our very own Anand Shimpi in this thread. This is quite breathtaking to say the least. It looks as though NV35 will turn out to be everything NV30 wasn't.

I'll put money Q3 at the earliest. ATI's pretty much put out what they have for a while...save for the 256 meg version of the R350 which will be shortly.

By the actual time that ATI card is out (which is what I'm waiting for), we'll see how ontrack nVidia is with the 35...maybe I'll be up for waiting a bit longer.

performance is one thing, IQ is the other

if they don't beef up the AA quality and speed then well....

not to mention good Trilinear+Aniso

right now the nv30 has some iq issues

the nv35 can be as fast as it wants but if those issues still remain then well.....

Bah! I know nvidia has another ace in the hole. By the looks of it Nvidia is making ATi think is dead in the water. I know that 35 is gonna be smokin!

I see Nvidia gave up on a 128 bit memory interface after Ati soundly beat them. I hope the NV35 ends up to be a great performer. Healthy competition between companies benefit end users with both price and performance.

Heres the deal. ATI has financial situations. and their lower end cards are getting killed. They have the top of the line cards (9xxx) and the 8500 sells ok but nothing else is worth a damn. Now for nvidia. They have market share. The lower end cards are what make the money, not the higher end. The bottom line is Nvidia is still the market leader, ATI is just has the best card.

Nvidia is in no rush. They are taking their time. I know that, immortal knows that, LT knows that (and all the other nvidites i can't think of off the top of my head). Like we have been telling people. They will come back in the end.

Your missing my point. I am saying that nvidia is not going to rush out a new gpu. They are going to take their time and they can afford to do so.

I'm not saying ATI is going under. But they don't have market share either.

So basically, people are mistaking the best gpu with the best company. Nvidia is in the lead. But ATI has the best card.

I'll be saving for that one. Nvidia is surely using their buffer for R&D. In the end they'll be back on top.

i think nvidia taking their time is good but in teh end it will give ati some of the market share, but i think nvidia needs to take its time.

I found it supremely insulting, and the mods have been contacted about it.
