Searching a free popupkiller for a newb

Post by SeedOfChaos »

Hi guys,

I'm trying to help a colleague, he needs a pop-up killer. Unfortunately he is a newbie when it comes to computers, though not uncapable of learning. If he were advanced, I'd recommend proxomitron which I use myself, but I doubt he could configure it right, and I live too far away from him to just drop by after work. So I need something that's free if possible, and more easy to use while still being efficient at killing popups. I've been looking all around and have tried about 10 different proggies, but I found them all to be either too complicated for him or not efficient.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :)

Don't waste those tears on what might have been;

Have you tried Pop-up Stopper from PanicWare? It wIll kill all popups. It alos won't allow another browser window to open if you click on a link on a page but you can allow it to open by simply holding the control key down.

It's free and available here:

Thanks for the replies, but I have found those programs to be too inefficient. First page I tried they both didn't stop the popups...

Going to give them another try tough, maybe I need to reboot after installing.

Thanks,

Why don't you just hook him up with Opera or Mozilla or Phoenix. IMHO they are all better overall the IE and they have built in popup killing capabilities.
