Successful Softmodded 9500NP

Post by njeddiek »

It was time to upgrade from my Gforce 3 card. After doing a great deal of research I decided to try my luck with a 9500np built on a 9700pro pcb. So last week I ordered a Sapphire 9500NP OEM from Newegg. After the usual prep( lapping HS, AS3) I cranked up the computer and ran default benchmarks. Applied the softmod using the Omega Cats and crossed my fingers. The card ran 3Dmark 01 & 03 with no artifacts or checkerboarding. Fillrate went from 1100 to 2200. So then I started cranking up the OC. Ended up with 380/624. Ran a 18940 01 mark and a 5845 3Dmark03.
For once luck was on my side. For $139 I now have a card with 9700pro performance.

It's always great to score a sweet deal like that.
