21. Do I have to be logged in as administrator ?

In order to use the TCP Optimizer to its full potential, you should be logged in with administrative privileges (user in the administrators group), so you have permissions to write to all the related Registry keys.

Windows 7/Vista/2008 add some more security measures, so you will have to take some additional steps to run the program as administrator, as follows:

1. Save the TCP Optimizer to your dekstop.
2. Right-click -> Properties -> Copmatibility -> check "Run this program as an administrator" under priviledge level.
3. Click "OK"

Now the program should start with administrator priviledges when ran.

Vista Home Premium will not RUN TCP Optimiser because "I must sign in as Administrator". The bad news is I am signed in as Administrator. Any suggestions? Your assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you, y

I too am getting please log in as administrator, but i am already logged in as an administrator. What changes do i have to make to my user account ???

Due to Vista's enhanced security features, you may have to right-click, and choose "Run as administrator" even if you're already logged in with admin priviledges.

Note that Windows Vista auto-tunning may also need to be stopped for the Optimizer settings to have effect, and it hasn't been fully tested with Vista.

The TCP Optimizer version 3.x works with Vista/Windows 7/2008. The new enhanced security settings in those OSes require right-clicking on the downloaded program, then choosing "Run as administrator" from the pull-down menu.

Under XP/2k/2k3/9x, you should be able to run the program and make all necessary changes without doing the above extra step, provided you're logged in as administrator.

In either case, once you try to apply changes, the screen that lets you review all changes before applying them has a column that warns of any "access denied" changes.

I too, have Windows 7 and when I open the program and try to right click on the program, nothing happens. I don't even have the option to run as administrator. . . .

right click- run as administrator does not work, ive even tried changing the permissions for the specific registry keys manually to provide full access.

running win7 ultimate x64.
optimizer version 3.0.8

ive used your previous versions of the optimizer on this same setup without issue, using again due to a windows re-install.

i think this is a bug with the optimizer ver.3 as version 2 does not have any such issue and works fine.

Version 2.x of the Optimizer is not designed for Vista/Windows 7.

You have to run the program with administrative priviledges in order to be able to modify all settings.

To all experiencing the administrator problem this is what you do.

When first downloading the thing from the website you must choose save instead of run. Save it to somewhere that you will find it easily. Find it then drag it onto your desktop. Then right click on the icon and choose run as administrator. After that you should be able to boost your speed. It didn't work for me though... I'm still averaging 450 kbps :/.

I can get the TCP/IP Optimizer to open and can make suggested changes. Then the application tells me I have to reboot. I do but the changes don't "take." When I open the optimizer the next time, nothing has changed. I have tried running as administrator, logging out and logging in as administrator etc, nothing seems to work. Running on Vista 32.

Any suggestions?

Frustrated.
