Due to Vista's enhanced security features, you may have to right-click, and choose "Run as administrator" even if you're already logged in with admin priviledges.
Note that Windows Vista auto-tunning may also need to be stopped for the Optimizer settings to have effect, and it hasn't been fully tested with Vista. See also: http://www.speedguide.net/faq_in_q.php?qid=247
The TCP Optimizer version 3.x works with Vista/Windows 7/2008. The new enhanced security settings in those OSes require right-clicking on the downloaded program, then choosing "Run as administrator" from the pull-down menu.
Under XP/2k/2k3/9x, you should be able to run the program and make all necessary changes without doing the above extra step, provided you're logged in as administrator. In either case, once you try to apply changes, the screen that lets you review all changes before applying them has a column that warns of any "access denied" changes.
right click- run as administrator does not work, ive even tried changing the permissions for the specific registry keys manually to provide full access.
running win7 ultimate x64. optimizer version 3.0.8 ive used your previous versions of the optimizer on this same setup without issue, using again due to a windows re-install. i think this is a bug with the optimizer ver.3 as version 2 does not have any such issue and works fine.
To all experiencing the administrator problem this is what you do.
When first downloading the thing from the website you must choose save instead of run. Save it to somewhere that you will find it easily. Find it then drag it onto your desktop. Then right click on the icon and choose run as administrator. After that you should be able to boost your speed. It didn't work for me though... I'm still averaging 450 kbps :/.
I can get the TCP/IP Optimizer to open and can make suggested changes. Then the application tells me I have to reboot. I do but the changes don't "take." When I open the optimizer the next time, nothing has changed. I have tried running as administrator, logging out and logging in as administrator etc, nothing seems to work. Running on Vista 32.
Any suggestions? Frustrated. Len |
