Yahoo copies Google with its own 'Instant' search2010-11-18 10:13 by DanielaTags: Yahoo
Apparently realising that bleating about Google's products won't help it win back market share, Yahoo has unveiled its own 'Instant' search. The firm is now testing a beta of what it terms a "more intelligent and content-rich Search Assist" or put simply, a search-while-you-type system. Yahoo obviously foresees the shouts of copycat and quickly adds that it is "a technology that Yahoo pioneered". It might well have taken the so-called pioneering steps but, unlike Google, which has gone ahead with a full scale rollout, Yahoo is still in the testing phase. Apparently the Search Assist "really pays attention to you as a user" said Ethan Batraski, group product manager of Yahoo Search. Batraski continues by saying Search Assist is just the first step in Yahoo's plan to "redefine how you use search", or rather, try to catch up with Google. Read more -here-
