This week, Time Warner Cable will reportedly start testing its new TWC TV service. Initially it will be available only to customers in New York City. The service aims to attract those customers who want to "cut the cord" of their cable service. It will be Internet-based and a cable box won't be required. Instead, users will be able to stream cable TV from TWC on a variety of devices like laptops, tablets and smartphones. For $10 per month over their internet service, customers can get the "Starter" TV package, whereas for $20 per month they will also get Showtime and Starz premium channels. Those who want the entire list of channels available to cable users, should pay $50 per month. The cable company promises that Customers who prefer the Internet service over the cable TV service will be provided with a similar TWC TV experience they are getting from the cable TV, but without the need to sign up for cable.
