Mobile carrier T-Mobile today announced that it has suffered yet another data breach that impacted a small number of customers of its prepaid service.Exposed data included details such as customer names, billing addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, rate plans, and plan features. T-Mobile said hackers didn't access any sensitive information such as passwords, financial information, or social security numbers.

"The data accessed was the information associated with the prepaid service accounts. Some personal information was exposed in this attack. This would have included name and billing address (if you provided one when you established your account), phone number, account number associated with the prepaid service, and information about your rate plan and features."

However, the company did not disclose precisely how the breach happened, when it happened, and how the attackers unauthorizedly managed to access the private information of the company's prepaid customers.

Many of T-Mobile's prepaid customers have already been notified about the incident and encouraged to confirm or update their personal identification number (PIN/passcode) on their T-Mobile accounts as additional protection.

T-Mobile suffered a similar data breach last year when names, phone numbers and account information for about 2 million customers was also exposed. In that case, however, T-Mobile said that encrypted passwords had also been exposed.
