Netflix may consider adding livestreaming to its service

Over the past few years, Netflix has started to explore new categories such as video games and interactive specials. Now, the streaming platform is continuing its expansion by stepping into another new territory: live streaming.

Deadline suggests the streaming giant could use the technology to hold live voting for competitive shows like the upcoming Dance 100 and air sets from its annual Netflix Is A Joke festival, among other use cases.

All this is in the "preliminary stages", so you shouldn't expect an announcement anytime soon. The article doesn't give a timeline for the roll out of live content, but there is now apparently a team at Netflix busy working on the feature.

The giant had recently lost nearly 200,000 subscribers due to the war in Ukraine, but this new feature should make it possible to reverse the trend. Thanks to the arrival of these new live broadcasts, Netflix can therefore cause a lot of damage to television, which is increasingly affected by the advent of all these video-on-demand platforms.
