Microsoft unveils 'Copilot' key, its biggest update to Windows keyboard in 30 years2024-01-05 18:01 by DanielaTags: Microsoft, Copilot key, Windows
Microsoft is adding a "Copilot" key that summons an AI-powered assistant with the click of a button in its biggest update to the Windows keyboard in three decades. The software giant said Thursday that the Copilot key will be coming soon to some new PCs made and sold by a variety of manufacturers that run on the Windows operating system, as it heralded "the year of the AI PC." The Copilot key will live to the right of the space bar and activate Microsoft's recently released Copilot service, which helps people perform tasks like summarizing documents, recommending music and answering questions you might ask a search engine or AI chatbot. It will replace either the menu key or the right control key on some keyboards. "This will not only simplify people's computing experience but also amplify it, making 2024 the year of the AI PC," Yusuf Mehdi, the executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft, said in a company blog post announcing the Copilot key. For Windows users who don't have Copilot enabled or those who live in countries where Copilot is not available, the new key will bring up Windows Search. Windows users currently can bring up Copilot by pressing the Windows key + C. Read more -here-
