Google's Stadia cloud gaming platform shuts down today2023-01-18 14:26 by DanielaTags: Google Stadia
Google is officially shutting down its Stadia cloud gaming service today, Wednesday, January 18, after having failed to gain the traction that the company was expecting. Google servers that host the service are due to shut down at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Google has released the online tool it promised to enable Bluetooth support on the Stadia controller. This gives the cloud-streaming gamepad a second life, so owners can use it with PC, iOS or Android devices, preventing the platform's central accessory from becoming a glorified paperweight. The controller not only got an update, but also... a new game? Yes, on Friday, with about four days left to live, Stadia got a new game. It's called Worm Game, and it was used as a test platform to develop Stadia. You can play it right now for free! Here's how Google describes the game: "Play the game that came to Stadia before Stadia came to the world. Worm Game is a humble title we used to test many of Stadia's features, starting well before our 2019 public launch, right through 2022. It won't win Game of the Year, but the Stadia team spent a LOT of time playing it, and we thought we'd share it with you. Thanks for playing, and for everything." As for a few other Stadia odds and ends: If you have any data on the service, some games let you move your game data to other platforms. Read more -here-
