Slate is the first gigabit router designed for security-savvy travelers who want their security being completely locked down no matter where they are. Slate (GL-AR750S-Ext) is both compact and lightweight. It can easily slip into a backpack, or even your pocket and take it with you anywhere. It also comes with a USB port for connecting a 3G/4G USB modem.

This device can be set as a Wi-Fi repeater to cover the Wi-Fi dead spot at your home or even replace the bulky router you have. With the right conditions, it could pick up Wi-Fi signal from a 100 meter away.Slate's built-in firewall can provide an extra layer of protection and you can form a secure network with a VPN.

Slate comes with pre-installed VPN server and client functions in WireGuard and OpenVPN. With Slate, you can bring all your workplaces together with a single, secure private cloud with OpenVPN or WireGuard. Don't worry about changing your network when you change your workplace. You won't need to reconfigure and reconnect all your devices as well; they'll all connect automatically each time you fire up your Slate.

The router supports Cloudflare DNS over TLS. DNS over TLS is a security protocol for encrypting and wrapping Domain Name System (DNS) queries and answers via the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. The goal of the method is to increase user privacy and security by preventing eavesdropping and manipulation of DNS data via man-in-the-middle attacks.

Slate has a built-in MicroSD slot that has a 128GB capacity. With the extra storage, you can create a local drive to store and download files on your laptop and other compatible devices as long as it is connected to the Wi-Fi.

Slate is a CES 2019 Innovation Awards honoree in the "Cybersecurity and Personal Privacy" product category. It is currently available at $69.99.
