nic 2 = 192.168.1.2

As far as Gnutella and Kazaa, sounds like maybe some ports are showing. Set ZA firewall internet security to high to stealth all ports. Maybe visit Gibson Research and run Shields Up! and Leaktest to test your firewall settings.

Change the default ssid and password, and enable wep (hopefully 128bit). It probably has diversity spread set as default which "scrambles" the signal. These (help) keep people from accessing your lan from the "airwaves". If you're real nervous about it, you can filter to allow access to only the mac ...

Wep is basically encryption to stop "snooping" in the airwaves near the AP (data trans from laptop to the AP, approx 100-300 feet). It also can be helpful in keeping people off your AP, since with wep enabled, they'd need the "key" to access your AP network. It's not extremely strong, and has been ...

In re: to your speed bottleneck, in addition to checking your mtu setting as suggested, you will find the need to occassionally and might also try flushing (reset button in rear) the router, &/or rebooting (unplug 15 mins or so and repower) the modem. Usually just flushing the router does the trick ...

Yes, this should work. Use the uplink port on the existing router into the WAN port on the Linky. Disable dhcp on the wireless assuming existing router is already performing this function. Set static address or obtain one from existing router. Set the gateway as the address of the existing router ...

You could set 1 of the pc's as the gateway with internet connection sharing. Obviously ethernet would be faster than usb.
There are usb to ethernet pigtails available.
