hi, first of all sorry if this is the wrong section i just donno where to ask.

what's up with the SG Analyzer? its been 3 days i'm unable to use it, it displays a blank page.

tried Firefox, Opera and IE same result, a friend also reported a problem (we live in different countries).

please fix or ...

it's your ISP it's not your computer or your router, your ISP is lacking bandwidth or saturated in the Central youre connected to this is why your speed is poor, 220 is about 30kb/s the maximum 512k should be around 55kb/s max real world speed, you're in the middle and its not bad at all.

good day,

i have 1mbps/512kbps connection ADSL and a modem/router by Netgear (ethernet) conencted to my Nforce NIC..

my question is does switching from 100mbps to 10mbps Fullduplex make any difference for a single PC and performance?

what's the benefit of lowering the nic's speed to 10mbps over ...

ISP Gateway problem

hi, 2 days ago something strange has been happening...

at 6:00 AM exactly the modem would lose the ISP Gateway and internet connection would die (not losing SYNC) just modem disconnect form the IP i was given.
i reset the modem but even though i did the modem wouldnt discover the ISP gateway and so ...

disconnections are do to Line Fault (in exchange) or DSLAM problem.

call your phone company and have them check your line.

please post your modem stats (SNR, ATTENUATION etc).

actually doenst really look that good....

the PINGS are very good...but the HOPS are too many = slower.

consider this....18 hops to reach Yahoo and another 18 hops to get back.....total = 36 hops

the more hops you take the worse problems if any trouble happend in any of the hops, in fact it's ...

I have 1 MB broadband with BT and if I use a well seeded torrent then I can get full speed of 116 kb/s but from a web server like download.com or something else I usually only get about 40 kb/s max. Any ideas why?

I've followed some online tweaking guides to make it faster so maybe that's why ...

the Pipelining thing does absolutely nothing and setting to 30 is useless because Mozilla capped it to a maximum of 8 , so anything above 8 doesnt make any difference.

dont install any ADD ON.

they got over 6 mbps on their laptop on mine its 1.2 and less...

the best modulation for ADSL = GDMT

for ADSL2 it depends....normal ADSL2 = ADSL2 , ADSL2Plus is for speeds in the 20-24mbits.

if you're on ADSL 1 and want the most stable connection ever use T1413.

there could be 2 reasons

1. are you throttled by ISP for some reason? overusage of torrents or so?

2. line fault doesn't necessarely makes your net disconnect, it can be bad performance (unable to ...

Which country are you in and who is your ISP?

Sometimes, it is the ISP who is limiting MTU values. Give them a call to find out.

i am from Egypt (although i'm british actually), i called the ISP today and their MTU is actually 1440 and my connection is PPPoE.

even more puzzling now....setting ...

your RWIN is huge, please use this one 255552

and remember a big rwin wont necessarely speed up things, it may cause the problem you have now.....fast....then drop slow....then back up.

something interesting.....i tweaked on pc the MTU from 1492 to 1430 and now this reads :

TCP options string: 0204056e01010402
MSS: 1390
MTU: 1430

so the analyzer is reading anything below an MTU 1440 but not anything above it.

i'm not on a PROXY.

Router set to 1492, pc set to 1430 = analyzer ...

don't waste your time trying to fix your Pings, there's nothing you can do to LOWER it, you can make things a tiny bit smoother/faster but they won't go lower.

this is an ISP problem and all you can do is contact them and let them know.

regardless of RWIN settings or not, if your ISP is congested ...
