Adsl2 Iinet is extremely slow.? (HELP ME TWEAK!)

Post by patrickwoo91 »

Hello,

I have adsl2+ (24,000kilobits) and is with iinet broadband 2 australia. I also have the dlink-dsl604T wireless modem/router. My sync speed is at approximately 12,000kb/s but i am not getting anywhere near that speeds... on torrents/rapidshare/megaupload even when using download accelerators!... My internet speed varies as sometimes it goes from like 300kB/sec and then falls all the way down to 50kB/sec and then goes back up to 300kB/sec slowly...
(what are some steps i should do to fix this!)

I have tweaked before and here are my stats.

your RWIN is huge, please use this one 255552

and remember a big rwin wont necessarely speed up things, it may cause the problem you have now.....fast....then drop slow....then back up.

try and report.

As suggested by Legumo, first lower your TCP Window to 255552 and then do a few tracerts to check that your ping times at hop 1-3 are stable. Then test your speed at a test server in Australia to see what max. speed you can achieve from your 12 mbps line.

Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU 1492
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 255552
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - checked
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
LocalPriority - 1
Host Priority - 1
DNSPriority - 1
NetbtPriority - 1
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

are they correct...mmm my net still begins at around 600kB and falls to 50kB/sec why is that?

there could be 2 reasons

1. are you throttled by ISP for some reason? overusage of torrents or so?

2. line fault doesn't necessarely makes your net disconnect, it can be bad performance (unable to sustain high speed) and remember ADSL2 = more sensitive.

3. dodgy filter

4. ISP is having problems in your exchange...perhaps overloaded or contention ratio kicking in.

5. Wireless signal = disturbed

i think its your Wireless being disturbed by something, moving the modem somewhere else could be a good test.

also removing the phone filter and plugging yer modem in the main phone socket (first one) is a good test.

the others ....LINE FAULT, ISP CONTENTION, THROTTLING is a bit more complicated.
