10mbps & 100mbps ethernet question

Post by legumo »

good day,

i have 1mbps/512kbps connection ADSL and a modem/router by Netgear (ethernet) conencted to my Nforce NIC..

my question is does switching from 100mbps to 10mbps Fullduplex make any difference for a single PC and performance?

what's the benefit of lowering the nic's speed to 10mbps over 100mbps?

thanks.

Usually "no"...leaving your NIC to "auto negotiate" is fine, however some people have found when mixing some devices...auto doesn't always work best..and manually setting the device can help. I've found the nForce adapters work great on auto...usually a very good NIC, low latency.
