I have 1 MB broadband with BT and if I use a well seeded torrent then I can get full speed of 116 kb/s but from a web server like download.com or something else I usually only get about 40 kb/s max. Any ideas why?
I've followed some online tweaking guides to make it faster so maybe that's why? Would a browser other than FF help?
Slow speeds from servers

the locations have different upload speeds.. not every place you download from will be the same and also depends on net traffic.
you have to keep in mind that your upload speed is like any other and if someone was downloading something from you and you only had a 100k/upload speed, how fast do you think they could download from you then? Certainly not over 100k or perhaps not even near it since it has to go through alot of places before it even gets from you to the other person.tummelv wrote:I'll keep an eye on this but it still doesn't seem right to me. Thanks for the reply.
there's nothing you can do...tummelv wrote:I have 1 MB broadband with BT and if I use a well seeded torrent then I can get full speed of 116 kb/s but from a web server like download.com or something else I usually only get about 40 kb/s max. Any ideas why?

someone here posted that his 10mbit connection got 40kb/s off Download.com and Filefront.
its not your connection, it's the website fault, many websites cap their download to save bandwidth and expenses.
also stop downloading Pr0n torrents dude. LOL
