I asked my ISP about the interleaving, mine is interleaved, if it could be removed.

Speaking of interleave, is that something the ISP could set per user, or is it 1 setting effecting all users on that particular dslam? or wherever interleaving is set.

I have a SB3100D cable modem, which is telco return.

Does anybody know what chipset, the dial-up portion uses?

My ISP, HTC@Home is fixing to drop @Home.

I'm sure their are more reasons than just the ones they told me about, but anyway, I'm glad that they are dropping @Home.

@Home throttles the download speed to 40KB/Sec reason #1
starts out at 360KB/Sec sometimes even higher and continually drops to 40KB ...

I guess I should have mentioned in the first post, that this is a 1 way cable modem service provided by HTC@Home.

I'm just upset that the performance is so bad, even for 1 way cable.

I have seen 28.8 modems beat this :(

however, there is one thing the tracert dosen't show, and thats the 15 to 20% packet loss at hops 10 and 11

i know you can assign priority to ping requests, but i don't think this group of nodes or routers is doing that.

i'm still curious as to why they named the ...

This trace dosen't look right, private ip's? on hop 4 and 5, plus hops 10 and 11, they are always like that.........slooooow, any idea what is wrong?
What would "loopback" in a node name mean??

Is your hard disk on a ATA100 connector? primary or secondary?

If it is, move it to the primary IDE connector.

I had the same problem trying to install Win2KPro

And from what I gather, it is a ATA100 controller issue, you have to have the drivers loaded so the OS can see the device, but you can't ...

The reason I wanted to install the @Home software, and btw, I haven't installed the software yet, was for the dialer that comes with it. I'm on a 1 way @Home cable system, HTC@Home is the cable provider, the modem is model SB3100D.

I can understand the frustration!

One thing that will help us, is the fact that we will be the only ones on a DC3 (45MBit)connection, plus new equipment at the headend

The 56k modem thing, it won't work. :(

The 14.4 dial-up modem inside the Hybrid modem, is your only choice, untill HTC makes the final switch to @Home. And then it will only be 33.6 upload, they will be using the GI/Motorola SurfBoard SB3100D Cable modem.
