Terminology

Could someone please post the different ways transfer speeds are measured (ie; 127.4KB/Sec and 10027kb/Sec) and how you arrive at those numbers, and also, the meaning of those letters?
Starting with bits per second (bps)

So if someone is getting 4.3 mega bit downloads, what would the list of corresponding numbers and abbrieviations be?

Thanks

In a nutshell...

8 bits make up a byte, so 4300 Kbits divided by 8 will give you a figure of 537.5 kbytes

k=kilo (thousand)
m=mega (million)
g=giga (billion)
