My roomate was told by an Adelphia tech that he could get through the router to see what was on the internal network. Was the tech BSing or what?

Is there any way of Adelphia seeing how many PCs are behind a router?

I am using a Netgear RT311 and an Netgear 8-port switch, which is being used to share my cable connection between 5 PCs.

I was told that Adelphia could see how many PCs were sharing the connection. Is this true?

I am using the latest firmware and everything is showing stealth.

Re: dont get it

The bin file is the actual firmware, the rom file is the default factory settings or configuration file.

Click on "File" under "Maintenace".

Next click on the "Restore" tab.

I’ve got it installed and everything is working fine. I don't host game servers myself so I couldn't say if that part is working or not.

If you know how to use the filter sets you can get this thing to do anything you want. There has been a way to do forward port ranges for a long time.

If you have any custom filters, make sure you write them down before doing the following.

In the Web-Based Configurator, under "Maintenance" click "File", then click the "Restore" Tab. Browse and find "romfile0.314" and click "UPLOAD". After that the router should reboot.

Now all you need to do is ...

I'm guessing you have a SBLive!...correct? Ditch it and get a new one. It's based on old technology that hasn't been updated in a couple of years. I was a die hard SBLive owner until I bought the Santa Cruz from Turtle Beach. They are about to release a newer one also. You might even try the Philips ...

10/100 just means the card is capable of running at either 10Mbps or 100Mbps.

When you say changing it to 10/100, what are you changing it from?

Jason Hardy, sorry but I have been there done that. All I got was a rude tech calling me back at my house acting like I was wasting his time. I sent it back the same day and purchased the Netgear RT311 with no problems since.

The v3.24 firmware fixes the abiltiy to get to my sb3100 cable modem's internal configuration page (192.168.100.1). Never was able to do that before, unless I removed the router.

I wouldn't worry about using regular CAT5. The cable glc1 is talking about is made to resist ultra violet deteriation. It's only 15 feet and it's not likely you will leave it there for 20 years.

Personally I think most of those speed test sites aren't worth a crap. You have to consider how many hops the server is away from you, whether the server is overloaded, and a number of other things.

I use a program from AnalogX called Netstat Live to measure my speed. That way its not dependant on ...

Do you still have an older firmware version? If so that is why they told you to do that.

On earlier versions of their firmware letting the NIC and the router autosense full/half-duplex was causing problems. It was causing downloads to drop and corrupted files.

Personally I think the Linksys is a ...

Had the same problems with the Linksys POS, downloads would hang, and really slow. Shipped it back and got the Netgear RT311, havn't had a problem since. Netgear or should I say Zyxel adds something new to every firmware version they put out. Next addition I hear is the abiltity to input port ranges.
