What software programs do you use for... (cont inside)

What software do you use for the following and which is the best in your opinion...

To check your download speeds??? I use Gozilla...

To manage your downloads aka download manager??? I also use Gozilla...

To check your ping??? I don't use anything and I don't know how to perform this check...

Also is there a download program that works best with broadband (cable modem)???

By the way I do luv Gozilla, I was curious if there was anything better out there... Anyway my two cents has expired!!!

Hey norm, when I copy and paste the command lines you typed out, all I get is can't find page or url you are referring to...

By the way what are good ping times vs bad ping times...

Also what does tracing a route mean and do???

If it's not against your principles to spend a little money to get something that really works, IOLO's Download Assistant is a rather complete download manager...

NOT related to Download Accelerator!

as far as a ping or traceroute goes, a PING just sends a packet of data, like ping, speedguide.net, a packet of data goes to speedguide, and a packet is sent back, verifying a connection. if no packet of data is sent back, you have what's called packet loss, which is bad.

Good pings, are usually 100ms, or lower. ms= milliseconds.

Traceroute, is a more advanced ping, as it traces a route, from your computer, to the website or IP you are tracing, listing each individual computer, and it's speed.

I personally use download accellerator plus as well, Gozilla is a waste. the new version they have just totally is a lot more bloated, with thier ads, and always froze my system. plus the spyware ffeature.
