Description
The 0xc0000022 error is a security error. A regular user does not have rights to read a file that one of our software programs use.

Cause
Some 3rd party programs can errantly change the permissions on a file

I'd go to safe mode and see what programs are starting up...

klif.sys gave me a blue screen error....then when I rebooted I got another blue screen.....had to goto safe mode and delete klif.sys. :( too bad cuz I really want to try Kapersky.

it's probably my system though....i've done too many tweaks too it, some service is probably disabled or something ...

do you have an extra anti- static bag from a hard drive or something? you can put the CPU in that and then that will work fine too. or really any kind of like plastic ziploc back would work, something non conductive, that lets you easily package it with bubble wrap and everything.

try going to http://www.drivermagic.com and download the Driver Wizard software. It might give you another driver to use. Usually a generic AC97 audio driver, which should work.

Though I've never experienced a problem from a Gateway driver like that before, usually the manufactuer drivers work ...

thanks bigmo, but there's no CPU cooling software installed.

i'm going to try and take out the old memory, maybe the memory is bad or something...have to run memtest and see if anything comes up....

yea my 550mhz k6-2 has XP on it, with the regular Luna theme and it plays movies and mp3's fine....so something is screwed with the computer, which sucks since everything else about computer is good...no conflicts in device manager, I disabled all unneeded ports in BIOS. I don't think I turned off ...

I got this Pentium 4 HP system from work for free, and well I know why it was free cuz it's junk... :D

It's a P4 1.5Ghz, 384mb Rambus memory....has PCI sound card, PCI video card, and a TV Tuner card, plus PCI NIC.

Did a fresh install of XP on it, everything on the computer works great, pretty ...

After spending $80 dollars each on one of the latest MIMO Super G routers and desktop NICs, it's been nothing but frustration.

It's a DLink DI-634M router, the Super G MIMO 108G....with the compatible network card, DWL-520 I think....

so you jumped from 1 gig to 2 gig and didn't really notice a difference? how about performance in other uses?

i'm building a computer for music production/video recording and editing....you think 2 gig would be worth it?

BSOD's not good....hardware issue of somekind. Reseat RAM, run MemTest 86 or other memory test software to check....SiSoft Sandra Benchmarks..whatever to find out the cause of instability.

Is this a fresh install of Windows?? if not, do a fresh install.

do you have any other hard drives to test? or sata cables? replacing the sata cables would be an easy and cheap way to rule that out at least..

we've got several of the cameras around where i live...I don't see why you'd be "fuming" unless you like to speed and go through red lights....the cameras have never bothered me. :)

Speed limits don't need to be changed either, at least around here.....people still go at least 10MPH faster then ...

from what i read, that workaround unregisteres the Windows Picture and fax viewer, from opening the Windows MetaFiles...(WMF)....your thumbnail viewing won't be affected with that.

To change the view, make it go to List view, which is what I use as well. Then you have to go to Folder Options ...

yea i forgot...

i have my cd drives hooked to a Promise ultra133 tx2 card...normal PCI card

didn't see a way to set the DMA mode for that....4 hard drives hooked to the motherboard primary and secondary channels.

yea i used a craftsman air compressor...

well it seems to be something hard drive related...as when i remove the hard drives, i can then access the bios, and the computer works like normal...except without hard drives of course it is of no use. :D

once i connect the hard drives back, i get the ...

Ok...so my friends computer needs a monitor. I take it to work with me, (one of my jobs is a part time PC tech at a small computer store) and test a monitor and it works great. The computer is very dirty, so I blow it out with the air compressor.

Burning DVD with Nero, goes very slow? how to improve speed?

I notice when I burn a DVD, whether data DVD or a DVD movie, Nero shows it going at 1x speed, even though I have 16x media and a 16x burner, and I select burn at 16x speed. Now I know it's not going to burn at 16x really, but it should be a lot faster then 1x.

any ideas on what to do to help speed ...
