Is there any tweaks to better optimize the connection for the way I use it?

My 1500/128 cable connection is shared via a Netgear WGR614 router with 2 other PCs. Must I tweak all 3 PCs for optimum Internet performance?

I corrected the MTU discovery. Also, I upgraded to cox's 5000down and 768 up and have a tech coming Sat to check on the signal levels. I just ran a test and got 4710 down(good) and 110 up(bad), should be at least 400 up. We'll see what the signals look like and go from there.

You may have reached the new limit imposed on concurrent TCP connectin attempts with SP2. The new limit is supposed to help stop the spread of worms and trojans (see below). Look to see if you have the following in your event log.

You should be able to uninstall SP2 with Add or Remove Programs (Windows Xp Service Pack 2) in the Control Panel unless you didn't backup your old files when you installed it.

Did you defrag your HD after the install?

Why would you need those ports open? Port 445 is commonly used by networked Windows computers to display network directories while Port 139 is used by NetBios to manage network traffic and to enable you to share files, printers, and other resources with other computers on a home network.

A T1 is 1500 Kbits/s in both directions. As for your connection, is that 600 Kbytes/s or 600 Kbits/s? Big difference. 600 Kbytes = 4800 kbits which would be excellent. 600 Kbits = 75 Kbytes.

I would suggest using a Latency value of 100. The calculation would then be:

(10000 * 100 / 8) / 1460 = 85.6164

Round to the nearest whole number which would be 86

86 * 1460 = 125560

I would just use 128480 for your RWIN. Remember to set Tcp13210pts to 1 to turn on Windows Scaling.

It has something to do with SP2. The Analyzer only reads what is being reported as the Tcp Window value from the packets. Actually, the Speedguide Analizer and DSLreports Tweak Test both report the DefaultReceiveWindow of AFD only if the value is present in the registry. If no value exists then they both report the correct RWIN (TcpWindowSize).
