How to fix blurry fonts in Windows ?

Many 1080p displays, especially smaller screens and laptops seem to suffer from blurry fonts under Windows 8.1. Please follow the steps bellow to resolve the issue as much as possible:

1. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop -> choose "Screen Resolution" from the pull-down menu
2. Click "Make text and other items larger or smaller"
3. Tick "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays"
4. Optional: increase the font scaling to 125% or 150% on smaller screens
5. Signout/reboot when prompted

You may want to also tune the ClearType text feature:

For Windows 10:
1. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop -> choose "Personalize" from the pull-down menu
2. Choose "Fonts" in the left pane
3. Choose "Adjust ClearType Text" in the right pane
4. Turn on ClearType and go through all steps, picking the clearest option (bolder small fonts are often easier to read on smaller laptop screens).

Note: For Windows 8.1, right-click on an empty area of the desktop > choose "Screen Resolution" from the pull-down menu > click "Make text and other items larger or smaller" > click "Adjust ClearType text" in the left pane, then turn on "ClearType" and go through all 5 steps, picking up the clearest option.

Other solutions that may also help:
- change resolution from 1080p to 1080i
- turn of scaling in your display driver properties
- increase contrast in your graphic card driver properties
