Users recently visiting China have complained that they were unable to use Apple News app in the country. When trying to refresh and fetch new stories, they have been welcomed with an error message stating "Can't refresh right now. News isn't supported in your current region."

It turned out that Apple has intentionally disabled the app in China. The company said that the reason for the deactivation are the censorship policies in the country and the fact that it wants to avoid censorship from the Chinese government.

The app in question hasn't even been launched in China. It is only officially available in the U.S and it launched to US users in June. However, customers traveling abroad can still access the app if their device region remains set to U.S. And now it's already impossible for those visiting China to use the app.

Apple isn't the first tech company based in the US which had to withdraw certain service from the Chinese market. Back in 2010, Google disagreed to censor search results in the country and started redirecting Chinese IP addresses to the Hong Kong Google site. That's why, now the Chinese government blocks most Google service in the country.
