***All great suggestions; to these I would add:
1) try turning off any file-sharing software you may be running
2) do an online virus scan... http://housecall.antivirus.com
3) download and run the trial version of Tauscan to check for Trojans.... http://www.agnitum.com

What's the IP addr. you pull? If it's 169.254.x.y, swap usb cord and /or ports (bad physical connection) then try unloading the driver from device manager, rebooting and reloading. If it's 192.168.100.x, call your ISP; that's the modem maintenance address which means you are able to communicate with ...

Never heard anything about CC blocking Kazaa. Are you just unable to make a connection to Kazaa, but have no trouble connecting w/ other internet apps? If so, is it possible that a setting either in Kazaa or any firewall software you may have to blame? I'd definitely double-check your settings-- if ...

You're going to share the same amount of bandwidth w/ all 3 computers, regardless of whether you use a hub or a router. I think what he was driving at is that your connection will prob. be more stable through the hub; that you *may* have less problems maintaining a stable connection going through ...

I'm sorry if this was already included in one of the many links above, but after fdisk & format, you can boot to command prompt, with CD Rom support, from c: type "md <OS cab folder>" - i386 for win2k, win98 for windows 98 or win9x for ME; then change to cdrom drive letter and "cd" to OS cab folder ...

Best bet really is to use a router. Your cable modem caches the MAC addr. of the interface connected to it, so if you dont use a router, you'll be stuck having to reset the cable modem every time you want to switch from one machine to the other (because each machine's NIC has a different MAC addr ...

If you are really cheap, like yours truly
you could pop an extra nic in one of the machines and install Analog X's proxy on it... You'd put the fahrwall on that machine too...

1st 6 digits of MAC identify manufacturer, last 6 identify card itself; unique & can't be changed-burned into card. NAT Routers have their own unique MAC, but you can choose to have the router use the MAC addr of a NIC behind it instead of it's own. I'm curious, why would you want/ need to alter ...

To respond to Bertwikks original complaint: try going into msconfig & unchecking KaZaa in the list of startups and reboot. While people are connected to your computer (which they can be at any time as long as KaZaa is running) pulling files off of it, the performance of ALL your internet apps. will ...
