Comcast Outage in New Jersey?

Anyone know if there was a Comcast outage last night (Monday, 2/25/02) in the southern New Jersey area? At 2 different times last night, for a period of about 20 minutes each, I could access nothing on the internet. The cable light on my cable modem started blinking and then went out. I rebooted and ...

On Wednesday, February 20, at 11:09 PM, my bandwidth results from phl.speakeasy.net:

Test running..........
** Speed 328(down)/123(up) kbps **
(At least 6 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

GRRRRR.... this problem has been occurring on and off for about 4 days now, and it is just plain ...

Comcast Network Latency or Lag in NJ?

Is anyone else in the Southern New Jersey area experiencing tremendous lag and latency on Comcast's network? For the past 4 days, web browsing has slowed to a crawl. Pages start to load, stall, load some more, stall - it's worse than dial-up. I've sent numerous emails to customer care and tech ...

Steve:

I live in the South Jersey area (Vineland) and, for the past 3 or 4 days, speeds have been horrible. Prior to that, download were pretty steady... but, for the past 3 or 4 days, it seems as if the net is clogged with molasses (at least for users in the Philly / South Jersey area). I used to ...

Problems logging in to Comcast?

Anyone else having problems logging in to Comcast.net's main page? I received my email id this morning, and was able to log in from work and change my default password. I even accessed the page a few times about 1 hour ago with my newly assigned password. Now, all attempts to log in to the page ...

Comcast Customer Manifesto

I have been a member of Comcast High Speed Internet for 3 weeks now, and have been generally please with the service, and am willing to give Comcast a few weeks to work the kinks out of their new network.

However, there are a few things that just irk me right now that I need to get off my chest ...

Comcast proxy causing page load problems?

Anyone else having strange problems loading pages in Internet Explorer 6.0 using Comcast HSI? Text loads for some pages, but the images do not. This doesn't happen for all pages, just certain pages. This problem does not happen when I used Netscape Communicator 4.79 (pages and images load fully ...

OK *blush* - now I feel stupid. I had run the TCPOptimizer before doing my previous tests... I guess I was using servers too far from my area. Using the phl.speakeasy.net server, this is my results:

Test running..........
** Speed 1086(down)/123(up) kbps **

Comcast Slow Downloads - Any Ideas?

I'm living in Vineland, NJ (South Jersey) and am a new Comcast HSI subscriber. My download speeds aren't so hot, even though I have tweaked my registry settings (running Windows 98 SE, 500 Mhz, 192 M of RAM).

Below is a summary of my registry settings:

From the DSL Reports Tweak Report:

Cablenut? *shudder* I've heard dreadful things about that program... wouldn't trust it if you paid me.

I'm a computer professional, and would be very interested in hearing your theory as to why an IE repair might improve my speeds... can you email me privately with an explanation? I'd really like ...

Ok... my apologies... I'm a littl agravated right now, and it's no reason to take it out on you...

What DOES IE have to do with speeds, especially since I'm not using IE for my speed tests?

1. For speed tests on dslreports, I'm using Netscape.

2. I also have a utility called Bandwidth Wizard that ...

Sounds like the Comcast HSI School for Customer Support...

Ok... pardon me for being blunt, but repairing IE has NOTHING to do with my download times. IE is working fine... besides, IE has nothing to do with fragmented pings, traceroutes where hops just die, and page requests that just time out.

Did you go to the Comcast HSI School of Technical Support ...

Geez, guys, I'd be jumping for JOY if I had the download speeds you guys do... new Comcast HSI customer (was never an @Home customer), and my downloads average out to be between 200 and 400 kbps... one day I actually hit a 500...

And tech support is no help whatsoever...

I'm not worried about the cap... I'm worried about the crappy download speed... performing a speed test from dslreports.com states that I'm running at maybe 4 times the speed of a 56K connection (220 kbps). I'd be happy to even be near the cap speed of 1.5 M. *sigh* I was hoping maybe a ...

Comcast Registry Tweaks

I tried using the TCPOptimizer on this site (using the optimum settings) but it seems to have slowed down my Comcast High Speed Internet connection to the speed of about a 56K modem... *sigh*

Anyone else on the new Comcast (not @Home) network used the TCPOptimizer with good results?

If not, what ...

I WISH I was getting even close to your download speeds... according to the speed tests I've run at dslreports.com and the ones listed on this site, I'm average 128 up (good) and between 220 and 400 down (*whine*). I'd be jumping for JOY if I got download speeds even CLOSE to the cap. But ...

I'd be elated if I actually reached the speed of the caps (128d/1500u). Based upon bandwidth tests done at dslreports.com using both servers during separate tests, I'm averaging 126 up (not bad at all) and about anywhere from 200 to 400 down. I'm not even close to the 1.5 download speed ...

I am a new Comcast High Speed Internet customer running on the new Comcast.net network. I was not a prior @Home user, and did not have an @Home account to transfer over to the new network.

A brief history of my story:

Approximately 2 weeks ago, I was overjoyed to learn that Comcast High Speed ...
