My view on this is that yes some of the avatars are kind of wild. They were not work safe that is true. I wish I could surf at work. :) . You should just have to right click on the start button and click properties and then click Customize and then Click the Advance tab the it should be the first check box says some thing like open sub-menus when pause mouse on.

The Batt monitor on Mine pops up when the level is critical and puts a little mouse in the task bar by the clock and it says that the batts are critical. I love not having the wires to get in the way.

I don't have the Microsoft Mouse But have a Logitech Wireless mouse the Batteries last about a month. I have 3 sets of Rechargeable that I swap in and out. The cordless Keyboard I have not had to change Batteries yet and It has been About 6 months. Hope this helps
