punkbuster is primarily for ladder and league matches but it's side effect on public servers has been good too. it won't remove the cheats, but reduce them. I went 29-4 yesterday, one of my better days, on a pB server, and never once got called a hack or a cheater. I got "Well done"s and "Way to go ...

interesting.......

This is very odd. My roomate is using a separate IP from my own, and his traceroute uses the same path, and he only hops to 90ms. He's on win98 I'm on win2K if that makes a difference.

Everything's ok right now, but i can't guarantee that it'll stay that way forever. I wish it would though. Thanks ...

Just for the record, we diagnosed that the connection from any computer to the router is perfect. the connection from any machine to the cable modem is perfect. the connection from any computer to the modem's gateway flickers repeatedly. This would be an @home problem, would it not?

Well, about to try the static IP thingy.

the situation is confused a little due to the following:

The house is 200-300yards from the road, and not wired for cable (due to having satellite tv all these years). So they ran a drop to the barn (100 yards max) from the poll on the road. From there ...

Linksys 1-port troubles

Well, i've searched thru the old speedguide posts but haven't been able to come up with an answer of why the following happens.

Setup:
Cable modem comes in from the poll. From there it hits the 1port LInksys Router. from there it goes into a 5port hub. in that hub we have 2 machines hooked up. a ...

nononon with a prophet if you have enough ram and plenty of tweak time, get the loki patch that allows for s3tc compression of the 2nd UT disc's textures! it's unbelievable. openGL runs UT a million times better than d3d with this patch.

i didn't pay my bill in time, and @home put me on "non-pay disconnect"...i got back online today to find speeds over 400. wow.

state college pa. again.

upload cap of 128kbps just put up this morning. grrrrrr.

i have 3 ip's on my account. do ALL of them have 15KB/s or just the total modem upload speed? if it's 15KB/s for EACH IP that is good. if it's 15KB/s for the whole modem, that sucks. :(

the loss of sync is due to the overloading of the local routers. they can't handle the traffic and disconnect people for short times to allow the traffic of those online to get through. there's nothing we can do about it.

static or dynamic, NO DATA can go from your modem through to the internet in ...
