RAM questions

Post by BlackLoti »

With prices so low i have a few questions:
1.)What's the difference between buffered and unbuffered RAM?

2.)What's the difference between ECC and non-ECC?

3.)I'm running generic pc100 ram at 112Mhz at CAS2 rather than CAS3. I have my celeron566 @ 953Mhz right now, and i need new ram that will operate at CAS2 112Mhz. Would getting a pc133 module be better than risking a pc100 that won't do CAS2 at 112?

thanks

and if you have any extra ram, lemme know.

ECC RAM has error correction, but is mainly used in a mission critical server environment, which I assume your not in. With Ram as cheap as it is, buy some pc133 Infineon. Around $70 for a stick of 128 here http://www.corecomputers.com/specialslist.htm?ItemCat=System+Memory&OrderID=29279494989657229185103 .
That should do wonders for all of your overclocking needs.

Buffered RAM is only need when you have large amounts on I stick, say a 256MB stick.
