The SVG2501 combines the functionality of a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem, an embedded multimedia telephone adapter for VoIP, four-port router with advanced firewall, an 802.11b/g wireless access point, and a field-replaceable Lithium-ion back-up battery. It supports a variety of VoIP features, such as caller ID, 3- way conferencing, call waiting and call forwarding. The integrated Lithium-ion battery backup minimizes the likelihood that a consumer will lose telephone service during a power outage.
