The WL-500g is a wireless router with a single 10/100Base-T WAN port, four 10/100Base-T LAN ports and two USB 2.0 ports. Using the USB ports, this router can act as a print server. It also features a Download machine and UPnP Media Server.

The integrated access point complies with the IEEE 802.11b/g standards. It supports WEP and WPA/WPA2 wireless encryption and 802.1x authentication. "BroadRange" technology triples wireless signal coverage of 802.11g standard by enhancing reception sensitivity. For best result, the client device should support this technology as well.

The router features a built-in SPI firewall to protect the network against malicious attacks.
