AyySSHush malware (March 2025) affects thousands of Asus routers. Uses brute-force logins to install. Opens backdoor on TCP port 53282, installs own SSH key enabling remote administration. Malware installs in the router NVRAM, and can survive firmware upgrades. Newer Asus router firmware addressing CVE-2023-39780 and undocumented login bypass techniques may prevent infection.
