Twitter has alerted its users that their accounts may have been hacked by state-sponsored hackers. The service sent emails with information that hackers may have been trying to obtain phone numbers, email addresses and IP addresses from users' accounts. Currently, there is "no evidence" that they succeeded. A Twitter spokesman has confirmed the authenticity of the emails but haven't provided further information. "As a precaution, we are alerting you that your Twitter account is one of a small group of accounts that may have been targeted by state-sponsored actors," one e-mail warned. "We believe that these actors (possibly associated with a government) may have been trying to obtain information such as e-mail addresses, IP addresses and/or phone numbers." Twitter is not the first tech company to alert about hacker attacks. Facebook and Google also notify users who may have been targeted by state-sponsored hackers. State-sponsored hackers are the most sophisticated and well-resourced hackers. They often use cyber attacks to conduct espionage or steal intellectual property. Read more -here-
