TP-Link's new Wi-Fi 6E router features motorized self-adjusting antennas

At this year's CES in Las Vegas, TP-Link is showing off the prototype for its new Archer AXE200 Omni router. What's interesting about this device is the ability of its four antennas to automatically fold out and rotate to seek out the best possible signal, wherever it happens to be.

The four external antennas mechanically rotate and independently adjust their angles to ensure that signals are being sent to where they're most needed in a home. If most devices accessing the internet are located upstairs as people are streaming TV or browsing social media in bed at the end of the day, the router will target that area of the house.

If it works as promised, the router could improve iffy connections throughout your home or maintain a solid WiFi link as you move around while streaming video on your phone.

The new router is powered by a 2.0 GHz quad core processor. As for the specs, TP-Link lists top speeds of up to 4.8Gbps on both the 5 and 6GHz bands, as well as speeds of up to 1,148Mbps on the 2.4GHz band, making a total of 10Gbps. The router features an ultra-high speed WAN port too, capable of handling incoming wired speeds as high as 10Gbps, plus an additional Ethernet jack that's capable of accepting speeds of up to 2.5Gbps.

The Archer AXE200 Omni router is expected to hit shelves later this year. The price hasn't yet been announced.
