![]() T-Mobile to pay $48M over misleading 'unlimited' data plans2016-10-20 02:16 by DanielaTags: T-Mobile
T-Mobile will pay $48 million settlement with the Federal Communications Commission for misleading customers about its "unlimited" data plan. The Federal Communications Commission found that T-Mobile had a policy to slow down the speeds of the heaviest data users during periods of network congestion. However, the company didn't adequately inform the customers about the practice. According to the FCC, this violates the FCC's 2010 Open Internet order that requires internet service providers disclose accurate and sufficient information about their services. "Consumers should not have to guess whether so-called 'unlimited' data plans contain key restrictions, like speed constraints, data caps, and other material limitations," FCC Enforcement Bureau Chief Travis LeBlanc said in a statement. "When broadband providers are accurate, honest and upfront in their ads and disclosures, consumers aren't surprised and they get what they've paid for." Read more -here-
