Sony Honda Mobility reveals Afeela prototype EV at CES2023-01-05 17:05 by DanielaTags: Sony, Honda, Afeela, EV, CES 2023
Sony unveiled a new high-tech prototype car it will produce in partnership with Honda at the CES tech show Wednesday. The vehicle, first announced in October, glided out on stage at the CES in Las Vegas. It will be called the Afeela. The 50-50 joint venture unites Honda's know-how in autos, mobility technology and sales with Sony's imaging, network, sensor and entertainment expertise. "As safety and security are essential to mobility, we will integrate Sony's sensors and the Honda safety along with other intelligent technologies," Sony Honda Mobility chief executive Yasuhide Mizuno said. The concept car looks fairly different from the original Sony concepts, other than also being a sedan-like vehicle with a satin gray paint. The shape is extremely clean and minimalist, with as few creases, curves and lines as possible. The front and rear lights are simplified down to basic bars. It all looks extremely aerodynamic, too. Afeela cars will be sold primarily online. Pre-orders for the production model, which again will be based around this prototype, will start in the first half of 2025, with orders being finalized toward the end of the year. The first deliveries to North American buyers will be in 2026. The cars will be built at a Honda facility in North America. Read more -here-
