Russians create 'surveillance-proof' smartphone2017-09-26 04:50 by DanielaTags: TaigaPhone
Russian security company InfoWatch Group has announced a new "surveillance-proof" smartphone. The TaigaPhone comes in green to represent the Russian northern forest after which it is named and has a five-inch touch screen. TaigaPhone runs a forked version of Android that works in tandem with InfoWatch-created firmware. It will keep apps from tracking any user activity, especially any work-related emails, documents, and photos, but broadly prevents any app from collecting or sending usage data. The phone is intended for the corporate market. The first 50,000 Taiga phones are being delivered to employees of Russian companies co-owned by the state. The device will cost between 12,000 and 15,000 rubles (~200-260 USD), almost five times cheaper than the cost of an iPhone in Russia. Read more -here-
