Microsoft Corp. has signed a deal with Baidu, China's leading Internet search engine, to offer Web search services in English to Chinese users. Microsoft's search engine, Bing, will appear on Baidu search result pages by the end of the year. In contrast, Google continues to lose market share in the country, where it has had several high profile run-ins with Beijing government officials. Now, the majority of Baidu users access the search engine for Chinese results. The company commands 83% of the domestic search market in the world's largest Internet community, with over 470 million users. Baidu said Microsoft would get the chance to reach out to 450 million internet users under the deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed.
