Microsoft is reportedly working on a brand-new light-weight web browser which will probably launch with its next-generation Windows 10 operating system. The browser is currently dubbed Spartan. It is not yet clear what its final name will be.

The new browser will come in two variants - Modern UI and classic Desktop. It will use the same Microsoft engines for JavaScript and rendering that Internet Explorer uses on the backend. Spartan is supposed to be pre-installed within the operating system, along with the latest version of Internet Explorer which is made available for backwards compatibility purposes.

People familiar with the matter suggest that Microsoft may announce Spartan on January 21 when the company reveals its next set of Windows 10 features.
