Microsoft has released nine bulletins in its Patch Tuesday for August, of which five were rated critical and the remaining four rated as important. The patches concern Microsoft Office and Internet explorer: MS16-099 (Office), MS16-095 (IE) and MS16-096 (Edge). The MS16-101 bulletin as being notable for Windows networking, as it addresses vulnerabilities that allow elevation of privileges when authenticating with Microsoft's Netlogon or with Kerberos. "The most severe of the vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user," Microsoft said. "If the current user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker could take control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights." Read more -here-
