Lockheed falls victim to cyber attack

The biggest provider of information technology to the U.S. government, Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) has suffered a major outage with its computer systems, probably due to a network security problem. The disruption began on Sunday after the company's security experts detected an intrusion to the network, according to technology blogger Robert Cringely.

The company that manifactures the F-22 and F-35 jet fighters, claims that it regularly takes actions to counter threats and ensure security.

"We have policies and procedures in place to mitigate the cyber threats to our business, and we remain confident in the integrity of our robust, multilayered information systems security," said spokesman Jeffery Adams. "No customer, program or employee personal data has been compromised", he added.
