Linksys announced at CES 2014 its latest WRT1900AC Dual Band Wi-Fi Router, which resembles the good old Linksys WRT54G that came out more than a decade ago. The new router shares the same blue-and-black stackable design as the WRT54G, but it's larger and comes with much more powerful hardware including a dual-core 1.2GHz ARM processor, 128MB of flash memory, and 256MB of DDR3 RAM. WRT1900AC features 802.11ac, 5GHz band speeds up to 1.3Gbps, and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 600Mbps. Wired connections are handled by four gigabit ports. External drives can be attached to the router via a USB 3.0 port or an eSATA/USB 2.0 port. The router also has four removable antennas. Just like the popular WRT54G, the WRT1900AC will feature support for open-source firmware such as DD-WRT, Open WRT, and Tomato. It comes with advanced Web-interface with a user-friendly Network Map where you can view connected devices in an interactive map. It also supports the Smart Wi-Fi engine that's been used in previous Smart Wi-Fi routers. Smart Wi-Fi gives users access to their connected devices from a browser or mobile app so they can manage their home network both when at home and on the go. The platform supports any Web browsers, as well as mobile operating system, including iOS and Android. The WRT1900AC will be available this spring for $300. Read more -here-
