Google tests black links in searches

2016-05-10 03:07 by

Google is reportedly A/B testing a new version of its results page, which uses black links, instead of the default blue color. The giant has also changed the look of the titles for pages previously visited. Instead of the usual purple, the visited links are shown in a very, very dark grey. They are hard to distinguish from the regular unvisited black links.

The users who already had the chance to view the new look of the results page weren't happy about it. Threads on Twitter and Reddit indicate that many people are against the new colour, described variably as "terrible" and "horrible."

"I really feel like I'm frenemies with Google. Black links instead of blue in the search results? No. Just No. Bad Google. Bad Google."

It's still unclear whether Google is going to offer black links to all users. It is known for using tests among users before a major change is released. The company chooses the colors of the search results very carefully. So far, it hasn't used other colours than red links in China, and different shades of the default blue.
