Google services suffer global outage

2020-08-20 17:06 by

Google Services were suffering a major global outage, with users reporting issues with Gmail, Google Drive and Google Docs. Google first said it was investigating issues with Gmail at 1:29AM ET. It later provided official confirmation of a range of issues:

"Gmail sending issues, Meet recording issues, Creating files issues in Drive, CSV user upload issues in Admin Console, Posting message issues in Google Chat, Sites adding new pages issues, Keep issues, Voice mail issues"

Some users have reported they are unable to log in to their Gmail accounts, while others are saying new emails are not showing up in the app and they are unable to add attachments. Some Google Drive users were unable to upload new files to the cloud.

Google said at 7:10 a.m. that it had fixed the glitches, which appeared to affect users across the world on both personal Google accounts and those linked to companies using Google Suite services.

The company has not offered an explanation for the problems. It only referred to its public dashboard in response to emailed questions, including what caused the issues and how many users were affected.
