Frontier Communications announced today that it will now offer a 2-gig plan, available immediately to all households within its fiber footprint.

Frontier, which has been signaling for months that it would launch a 2-Gig service in early 2022, is initially offering the premium-level, uncapped tier for $149.99 per month. While that's significantly higher than the cost of similar plans from the likes of AT&T, Ziply Fiber and Google Fiber, which range from $100 to $120, Frontier is throwing in a bunch of extras to sweeten the deal. These include a 2-gig router and Wi-Fi extender, voice line and multi-device security at no extra charge. It's also offering a free 43-inch Amazon Fire TV and Logitech webcam to the first 1,000 customers who sign up for the service.

This new 2 Gbps offer also comes with Frontier's Total Home Wi-Fi Guarantee. This means the Frontier's 2 Gbps router supports today's fastest Wi-Fi standard: Wi-Fi 6e. With this technology, you'll get an honest 1 Gbps wireless connection to your devices.

Frontier added a record 45,000 fiber broadband customers in the third quarter of 2021. The company, which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy last April, is scheduled to announce Q4 2021 results on Wednesday, February 23.
