Elon Musk has completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, the company confirmed in a securities filing Friday, putting the world's richest man in charge of one of the world's most influential social media platforms. He has already reportedly sacked Twitter's chief executive and has changed his own Twitter profile to "Chief Twit". Musk's purchase of Twitter has been a grueling process that began six months ago in January, when he took a major stake in the company after expressing that the company's management and operations, especially those related to content moderation policies, needed to change. Musk is believed to have been spurred to action after Twitter suspended popular conservative satire site, The Babylon Bee, for publishing a joke that referred to transgender U.S. assistant secretary for health Rachel Levine as a man.
