Asus Announces High Speed Gaming Router and Wireless Bridge at CES 2012

At CES 2012 this week, popular motherboard manufacturer Asus showed off two new routers. The two new wireless products are the Asus RT-N66U, which is a dual band Wireless N Gigabit router, and the Asus EA-N66 Wi-Fi Ethernet bridge.

The RT-N66U is a networking solution optimized for demanding tasks like multiplayer gaming, 3D HD video streaming, and file sharing. Professional QoS traffic technology prioritizes network traffic to ensure lag-free online gaming sessions or HD video playback. The front and top of the router shows off a stylish black pattern, blue status LEDs, and the Asus RT-N66U "Dark Night" name/logo while the back/bottom of the router contain plenty of ventilation ports and a stand to hold the router vertical.

The RT-N66U dual-band gigabit wireless router delivers extreme network speeds and coverage for the best wireless gaming experience. It is effectively two routers in one, delivering combined wireless speeds of up to 900Mbps through double 450Mbps bands operating separately at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It is aided by 26dBm Wi -Fi amplifiers which extend its wireless range. In addition, ASUS' new user friendly interface puts its powerful features within easy reach of everyone. The RT-N66U is the first router to implement the new advanced ASUS user interface. Basic Wi-Fi settings are pre-configured out of the box and once connected to the default wireless network, directs the web browser automatically to a web-based setup page. The ASUSWRT dashboard lets users monitor and adjust network settings easily; while a download manager allows for file downloads with the PC off, along with remote management of mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.
