The commands do work I just need to change directory and go directly to winnt\system32 then they work so im assuming the "path" like working in the old dos prompt is messed up some how and I don't remember how to fix this in win 2000.

Yes it does it with almost everything though what did work was that ie6 command for saving any version of ie to the computer. That is all that worked I think. Dir, changing to different drives works, ping nslookup or tracert do not work. So this is weird.

AVG was saying there was a virus or possible virus in the master boot record but it turned out it was that there was a problem with the master boot record so we just did a fdisk mbr and that fixed it. Thanks again ............Melchizedek

Never heard of it. All you need is Ad-aware, SpyBot and SpywareBlaster and they are all free.

Another program that is EXCELLENT but isn't free is SpySweeper.
