What do you think about god?
do you think there is a god, do you think there is an after life? anything about that stuff post it here, id like to know outher people's opinion's
I prefer to think of god not as a single all powerful being or the creator of all things including life itself. I think of god in terms of infinity or the 'allness of all' and as something to strive toward attaining as a spiritual being.
I believe that we are all spiritual beings and that heaven and hell are invented concepts designed to trap us and prevent us from realizing our true potentials.
All of the great religions contain or have touched upon the idea of reincarnation, including Christianity. In fact, it was a Christian belief up until about the 4 century when reincarnation was strichen from the bible. (The modern bible is aimed more toward the enslavement of man than his attainment of spiritual freedom.)
These are some of my beliefs. Take them for what they are worth. I will not defend them nor argue them for they are MY beliefs. And all men are entitled to their own beliefs, be they agrred upon by others or not. (the avid craving for agreement leads one toward self destruction)

Well, I got myself going here. I have a letter which I'm going to share with you. It is one which I wrote in response to someone's claim that the Creator, His Word, His Son, Faith and the Holy Bible are all just myth and legend with no solidity whatsoever.

For someone to claim, "the Bible is only a myth or a set of camp fire tales told from a father to a son through generations or that there never really was a Jesus Christ," is giving to those who differ of opinion on the matter the tools to prove these claims are based on misinformation and ignorance. However, even after learning the facts of this reality some individuals choose to use that thing which distinguishes humans superior to all other creatures on Earth merely as a place to put their hat.
Isn't it ironic that they can accept the notion of strange beings from some galaxy **light years (see footnote) away, flying about our planet? Obviously they are a proponent of advocation through the ideaology of "heresay without research." Even with their "alien" philosophy they hurry back to their ignorant view of things. Remember, the Hubble Space Telescope observed the light or what is called "RED SHIFT REFLECTION" of two, slowly seperating stars which were located in a galaxy millions of light years from ours. Having verified this seperation it changed the theory to fact that our universe is still expanding. With the data that Hubble had given, astronomers were able to see the beginning of the universe! With all the new information about the formulation, birth, life, decline and death of stars that Hubble made possible astronomers have concluded for all intensive purposes that the Big Bang Theory is really Law. Astronomers were able to measure the seperation rate of these two stars for a period of six years which in turn made it theoretically possible for them to use this data in a reverse calculation formula. Once solved, this formula would answer the oldest question asked by mankind, "How old is the universe?"
With a special, specifically-tasked computer built to solve this single problem astronomers and the world had to wait for almost 9 months for the computer to solve the problem. Two years ago NASA released to the world the results of that computation and said that the universe is 12.5 to 15 Billion years old.
So, continuing on our original subject, one must think that it is awfully strange that even though Hubble can physically see galaxies millions and millions of light years from here it has yet to discover a single planet anywhere in the universe that even comes close to containing all the properties necessary to sustain life as we know it. Yes!! Earth is actually a planet that is irrefutably unique and scientifically proven in it's authenticity. There is not one other planet in all the universe, as far as we can see, able to sustain or even contain water like the Earth does!! But according to those that subscribe to this alien ideaology Earth is a Highway rest area or roadside tourist stop for the garden guru alien beings.
In all seriousness though it seems frightening that for some it is so easy to imagine these little green men actually exist and yet at the same time it is impossible for them to be able to understand the idea of a Creator Who is complete and unconditional love. Although, humorous or otherwise to those of us who understand, it is our duty not only as creatures of Faith but as humanitarians to enlighten those that live lives of ignorance and conjecture.
Lastly, let me have you ponder this for as long as you can keep yourself from the X-Box...

I appreciate you having brought up such a wonderful topic in the forum. Hopefully those who KNOW can bring those who do not to the place where they themselves will search for Him through His Living Word.
If a person of complete and unbiased mind picks up the Holy Bible simply seeking truth, then that is all they have to do because God will create a new, ever-blossoming relationship within them...as He promised.
When someone discovers that He really does exist, by reading the Good Book without doubt or prior opinion, it undeniably is a much more pleasant road of life to travel.

I didn't think I attacked anyone in my entire post. It's surely not an attack stating that someone is wrong about not knowing that there really truely is undeniably take it to the bank royal flush right as rain no other way it can be sure as the sunlight a Almighty Creator.
The problem that people have today is that they forget to go straight to the source to find out about God and His plan for the ages. Pick up the Book read it unbiased as you would with any Stephan King book or some other book read it seeking truth...God will be there and enlighten you and create something that is surely missing from your life currently. Easy directions He gave us but look at all the misquoted mis informed ways people have gone since then. I don't give a hoot or a hollar which version of the Bible you pick up and further still I don't care what particular books are in the version....these things do not mater to God...He is the one Who is guiding you once we take the step to find out just what is going on with this whole Bible thing. I've been a Catholic my entire life and yet I didn't realy read the Bible that means study it...yes Bible study...until about 3 years ago. I'm 34 as of yesterday...lol. The Bible is not something you can go and read 2 5 8 12 chapters of ...each sentence each event is something that must be studied. This is truely seeking the truth...not just a nice novel type easy read...it's the BIBLE. Anyway I'll stop but yo...even after I state this much people will read it and completely not think about how easy it really is to find the TRUTH. Remember, for someone to say that the bible is not valid has to know the book better then all the other scholars of today and in hostory who took the belief in it to their grave...no doubt being raised up once again I say!!!
Praise Him Sing Him but as even Jesus said...never ever force or push Him onto someone. We are to cause curiosity and desire for the knowledge...those who side step it from there have their own destiny to deal with. May God help them...

Yes, there is a God, and he has a son, named Jesus Christ. And there is a Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit and together they all form the godhead. Yes, there is an afterlife:
**Celestial Kingdom-- Where all the good people go
1.Highest glory <--must be eternally sealed w/ spouse through temple
2.Medium
3.Lowest glory <-----there are 3 different glories in the celestial kingdom
**Terrestial Kingfom-- Medium
**Telestial Kingdom-- Lowest (besides eternal darkness/hell, of course)
******Eternal Darkness (known to man as hell) <--don't wanna go there, if any of you sg'ers are mormon (I dont think any of you are) and if any of you guys know what the Book of Mormon is and have ever read it, thats awesome. If any of you have it and dont read it, go to Alma Chapter 30. It speaks of a man named Korihor<--an anti-christ. He taught anti-christ beliefs/principles. And the whole chapter, he's talking about how there is no God and stuff, here's a few short excerpts:
verse 12 - "And this Anti-Christ, whose name was Korihor, (and the law could have no hold upon him) began to preach unto people that there should be no Christ. And after this manner did he preach, saying:
verse 13 - "O ye that are bound down under a foolish and a vain jope, why do ye yoke yourselves with such foolish things? Why do ye look for a Christ? For no man can know of anything which is to come.
verse 14 - Behold, these things which ye call prophecies, which ye say are handed down by holy prophets, behold, they are foolish traditions of your fathers.
verse 15 - "How do ye know of their surety? Behold, ye cannot know of things which ye do not see; therefore ye cannot know that there shal be a Christ."
And this goes on and on talking about how whatever man does, it's not a crime, and that all men conquer according to their strength and genius, blah blah, blah...etc.
And near the end, Alma struck Korihor dumb, therfore not being able to speak, and Korhior than wrote these words: "I know I am dumb, for I cannot speak; and I know that nothing save it were the power of God could bring this upon me; yea, and I also knew that there was a God.
He also said this in Verse 53 - "But behold, the devil hath deceived me; for he appeared unto me in the form of an angel, and said unto me: Go and recliam this people, for they have all gone astray after an unknown God. And he said unto me: There is no God; yea, and he taught me that which I should say. And I have taught these words; and I taught them because they were pleasing unto the carnal mind; and I taught them, even until I had much success, insomuch that I verily believed that they were true; and for this cause I withstood the truth, even until I have brought this great curse upon me."
It goes on for a little while that Korihor begged Alma to ask God to take the curse off of him, but he said no, because if it was, that Korhior would lead the people astray again. And Korhior soon became a begger in the streets, begging for food at each house.
The very last verse of this chapter was this:
Verse 60 - "And thus we see the end of him who perverteth the ways of the Lord; and thus we see that the devil will not support his children at the last day, but doth speedily drag them down to hell."
Hope this never happens to anyone else.

I like it when an all powerful deity chooses sides.

I beleive there is no real one all powerful "God" but rather that power is in all things in nature.I agree to point there is a law in scince that saids everything that is conntained will be conntainned unless acted by equal or greater frorc . The big bang was contained form of gases or whatever what was the force that acted it who knows.
How ever if you belive in a god or higher power based on the bible or curch or any form of religous meaning i donn't get it. I've been told good advice over the years find your concept of god don't make a religon chose for you.
There is no right answer to this question i learnrd this in phllosphy that the whole argument is usless why cause you can't tell someone who belives my faith there is no god. Is that beliver going to quit beliving no or vice versa.
to sum it up i'm agonstic i don't have ie spell on this computer
How ever if you belive in a god or higher power based on the bible or curch or any form of religous meaning i donn't get it. I've been told good advice over the years find your concept of god don't make a religon chose for you.

I don't think there is an afterlife(heaven & hell) I just think the body dies and thats it!
I do believe in the variety of the human race and in letting everyone believe in what they want and living with that and different beliefs not being a porblem for me.
I know what I believe and I don't try and push that belief on anyone else.

I very well could be, I do hope I'm going "upstairs" ... but I do believe there is an afterlife ... what I'm saying is there seem to be alot of non-believers floating around these days (and SG is no exception) ... So what if it pisses you off! You think you are the only one who cries at the thought of 1 Human being brutally attacking, molesting or terrorizing an innocent victim? The ugly fact is that it happens. The real tragedy is that we have screwed up the greatest gift that can be imagined and that is FREE WILL. The fact that we have used it for ill does not mean that God is awful. Without free will, we would know NO LOVE, NO KINDNESS, NO GIVING, NO SHARING, NO BEAUTY AND ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE FROM ONE THOUGHT TO THE NEXT! How miserable of a thought that a child killed in a ruthless manner just dies and there is no more. That's depressing. It's the faith in God that keeps me going, knowing that same child will be sitting in Christ's lap in eternal glory.
